Back On Crash Watch

In late 2022, we were formally on “Crash Watch” as both fixed income and equity markets sold off. The S&P 500 reached down to the 3500 level, but it then reversed as interest rates moved lower. It’s now late 2023 and the same setup has emerged. As such, we are back on Crash Watch.
Let’s think of this in meteorological terms. For example, a Tornado Watch is issued when the conditions are present for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. A Tornado Warning is only issued once a tornado is sighted or suspected to be forming. Maybe think of it this way:
